carry the fire
proud to say i did the graphic design and photography for the new ep by my friend comma.

San Francisco producer Comma is projecting holograms of his vision for the future of music. As a member of the tastemaker beat collective Frite Nite, he’s one of the fastest rising names in the Bay Area’s diverse production scene. With influences ranging from the UK underground, ambient techno, Detroit futurism, and a life-long love for hip-hop, Comma has been steadily advancing new sounds as a DJ, producer, and enthusiast of forward thinking music.
On his debut Carry The Fire EP, Comma emerges in an evolving strain of dance music influenced by dubstep, experimental beats, UK garage, and ambient. These looming, haunted tracks are rich with abstract melodies and driving rhythms that breathe and grow effortlessly. The post-garage skitter of “Coyote” illuminates an original style that is fresh and emotive, while the title track is a 136 BPM epic with driving low-end and a hook that evolves brilliantly until the last note. The similar roller “Holodeck” shows Comma’s distinct nostalgia for future visions come and gone, and his habit of creating, rather than following trends. After four of Comma’s unique productions, we are treated to a remix of “All Gods, All Masters” by recent Warp Records signee EPROM, who re-heats the track with the speaker-blowing attitude that has gained him international acclaim.
In addition to the cover art, each track on Carry The Fire is accompanied by a unique image designed by DJG. This is the ninth release on the Semisexual label, run by US electronic music veteran Mr. Projectile. Carry The Fire will be available April 20, 2010 at Commasounds.com, as well as digital retailers Juno and Addictech.
